About BAscene

BAscene.com is all about celebrating our local bay area artists and the raising of awareness of our diverse art scene, music scene and cultural scene in the bay area. We are providing an alternative platform (other than a soapbox) for bay area artists. All in an attempt to rejuvenate the local bay area scene. To achieve this goal it is essential to be a positive and highly interactive force so please contact us for any input. Help us open the doors of opportunity by connecting local artists, local bands, and scenesters in the bay area. We want to take the power back, out of the hands of corporate radio and of promoters and give it to you.

Q When I click on a download, it plays in my browser, how can I save it?
A To save a download, right click [pc] or control click [mac] and choose "Save link as..."
Q How do I get my band on BAscene.com's podcast "The Noise"?
A Email your bands song in mp3 format and your bands drop in mp3 format to JimmyJames@bascene.com along with your contact information and band link. Try to keep drops under 30 seconds because they will be edited down to the best of our ability.
Q What if I do not have the recording capability to record a drop in mp3 format?
A You can leave a drop on this number (415)786-0565. (standard rates apply)
Q What is a drop?
A A Drop is a brief message introducing your song, and/or promoting any of your band's up coming shows. You can go to the site and listen to the podcast to hear what other bands have said in thier drops. It is not necessary but try to mention BAScene.com (Pronounced B. A. Scene dot com) in your drop like... "Your listening to BAScene.com" or "Support Local music on BAScene.com" feel free to be creative.
Q What if I am not in a band but want to promote an event on BAscene.com's podcast "The Noise"?
A We will also have an event calendar in "The Noise" so if you want to promote an event you can by sending us the event description in mp3 format to JimmyJames@bascene.com. Keep event descriptions under 15 sec. (see also What if I do not have the recording capability to record a drop in mp3 format?)
Q How do I get my band's song hosted for free as a download on BAscene.com?
A Email your bands song in mp3 format to JimmyJames@bascene.com along with your contact information, band link, and kill date of your submitted download. If you have no desired kill date put TBA. Then when you want your song taken off our download page, e-mail us at JimmyJames@bascene.com to informing us this.
Q How do I get my album reviewed by BAscene.com?
A If you want your album reviewed by us you can send it to:

BAscene.com is a localized website for the greater San Francisco Bay Area. We accept sponsorship only from companies that operate out of this region. We are committed to growing local scenes and praise those who also want to help grow these scenes. We offer competetive rates for advertising to the people which you are trying to reach!

There are currently two ways to sponsor us:

  • Have an advertisement in one of our podcasts
  • Have an advertisement banner on our site, with or without a link
If you want to sponsor us on the web, but don't have a banner, you are in luck! As part of helping grow our local scene, we realize you also need to help grow the communities they are in and the small local businesses in those communities. This means that we can create a banner for you at a very competetive, minor (and possibly negotiable) fee. You can then also use this banner not only on our site, but any where you please!

Help Promote BAscene.com

How can you help promote BAscene.com?
Tell everybody you know about us and what we are doing! Find a member of our street team and get some stickers and hand them out to everyone you know. Go to the contact page and ask us for some stickers. Come and see any events that we may throw. Tell the people that you heard them on BAscene.com. Make your own flyers from our logo below and pass them out to friends and family.
