This band, right here, is one of the reasons I continue to put my heart into BAscene.com. Every so often, there comes a band that grabs me by the jugular, or better yet the eardrum and does not let go. The Venting Machine is one of these bands. The bay area has an interesting ability to consistently pump out bands, that, while you could surely define their influences, have a particular sound that makes them unique from what the rest of the scene is doing; a sound so refreshing that it needs no other label than simply, metal. TVM first formed around Northern California in 1998 under the name "Breach." Around 2004, vocalist, Adam Rafferty, guitarist, Jeremy Epp, bassist, Chad Murphy, and drummer, Joe Tobin decided it was time to release the twelve-song "Diablo" demo. The quick and wide acclaim made it possible for the band to open for such acts as Chimaira, Systematic, All Shall Perish, Black Label Society, and Crematorium. TVM's latest release shows a band that continues to steamroll ahead whilst destroying everyone in their path, while at least stopping for a round of drinks. Their sound is so brutally focused it'll blow your mind. All you need to hear is the disc opener, "The Devil's Mouthwash." The sheer intensity combined with stellar production from the band themselves, will leave your fingers crooked from all the wild air guitar you'll be playing. This is how today's metal is supposed to sound. Taking the bay area by storm and next the world, it's the Venting Machine, and they play metal...Pure metal!
