Mud

Yearbook

I would have never thought of describing any kind of rock as being danceable until I heard Mud

Record Label: Talking House
Release Year: 2008
Mud Homepage

Busy since signing onto indie label, Talking House Records, this 5 piece outfit from San Francisco has been knocking about the rock scene with a brand of infectious pop punk melody. Yearbook, their latest full album release from their new label, is a collection of new material and old tracks from their 2002 release Where is Tomorrow. The hit single, "Should've Known", kick starts things with the band's renown heavy riffs and catchy bass/drum lines, yet carries a clear and refined tone which portrays Mud's growth and professionalism. Another track which bears listening, "Illusion", starts off slow and earnest, building momentum to a frenzied finish. On a slightly nitpicky note some of their old songs have been a bit over produced in place of their usual live and raw feel, like old favorite "Spaz" or "Apt. 4". But in the case of "Psycho" the addition of classical violins and horns enhanced it's overall creepy likability. This eclectic album's got something for old and new fans to listen to and is available on iTunes and their band website. Or you can tune into the Noise and listen for a track!
